The Mobile Wash Company

About us

A fleet wash company that runs like a fleet

We are based in Esko, Minnesota, a few miles south of Duluth. Three wash trucks, a crew that works nights and weekends, and a schedule with more than 120 fleets on it.

The Mobile Wash Company started with one truck and a few yards in Carlton County, and grew the way a fleet wash business should: a yard at a time, by showing up on the same night each week and doing the whole list. Today our three wash trucks run routes across Northern Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin, washing more than ten thousand units a year for haulers, carriers, distributors, contractors, bus fleets and public works.

What we believe a wash company owes a fleet

  • Show up. Same day each cycle, nights and weekends included, with a crew that knows the yard.
  • Do the whole list. Every unit, every cycle, and a log that proves it.
  • Bill what you did. Per unit, from the log, with unit numbers on the invoice. Nothing for trucks that were out.
  • Hold the standard. Inspected and scored washes, so the quality in year three is the quality in week one.
  • Respect the yard. Gates locked, water where it should go, no chemicals indoors, aluminum-safe where asked.

How we run the business

We built our own software to run it. Every yard has a sheet with its unit list, access notes and rules; the crew log each unit from the stop on their phone; crew leads inspect and score washes; and the week's invoices build themselves from the log on Friday. It is the reason we can tell you which units were washed on which night, and the reason the invoice matches the yard. That software is now The Wash Book, which we also offer to other fleet wash companies.

The people

Gavin owns the company and still walks yards. James runs the office, the rates and the schedule. Orion looks after new accounts. Josiah leads the crews, and Ethan, Michael, Brock and Morghan are the crew you will see in your yard at night. Call the office and you will get one of the first three.

The trucks

Three self-contained wash trucks, each with two hot-water pressure washers on their own pumps and engines, an on-board water supply and burner, and the chemistry for every job on the route. Each pressure washer has its own hour meter and maintenance schedule, because a wash truck that breaks down at midnight in Hibbing is a yard that does not get washed.
