Municipal and utility fleets have two things in common: the units are expensive and expected to last a long time, and every one of them is a public vehicle somebody is looking at. Plow trucks are the extreme case. They spread the salt and brine, then sit in it, and a plow truck that is not washed through the winter loses its frame years before its engine. We wash public works, county, electric and gas utility, and water and sewer fleets across the Northland, on routes that fit a public yard's hours and rules.
What we wash
- Plow and sander trucks, including the sander and wing
- Bucket and digger derrick trucks
- Utility bodies, service vans and pickups
- Vac trucks, jetters and street sweepers
- Loaders, graders and backhoes
- Squad cars and administration vehicles
- Mowers, trailers and attachments
- Transit and paratransit units
Plow trucks and the winter
A plow truck in brine season needs an undercarriage rinse every week, and the sander body, chains and wing need hot water to come clean at all. Fleets that wash plows weekly from first snow to the thaw keep frames, hydraulic lines and electrical harnesses years longer; the ones that wash in April find out what the salt did. Undercarriage washing.
Working at a public yard
We are used to the requirements: proof of insurance on file, badge or escort rules, locked yards with a gate code or a call-ahead, no chemicals indoors, wash water kept off the storm system, and invoicing that matches a purchase order with unit numbers on every line. The per-unit log we keep is the same list your fleet manager uses.
Water reclaim at the shop
Many public works yards have a wash pad with an oil-water separator; where there is one we use it. Where there is not, we bring reclaim mats and vacuum recovery and take the water with us. Wash water and stormwater rules.
Can you work under a purchase order or a quote for a budget cycle?
Yes. We will quote the fleet per unit by frequency so a year's cost is a known number, and invoice weekly or monthly against the PO with unit numbers on the lines.
Do you carry insurance certificates for public contracts?
Yes. Ask for a certificate of insurance with the quote and we will send it with your entity as the certificate holder.
