Two Harbors is thirty minutes up Highway 61 from Duluth and the start of the North Shore, where the fleets are fewer but the conditions are harder: the lake wind, a longer winter and a highway that is brined from Duluth to the border. Our shore route covers Two Harbors, the Highway 2 and 3 corridor toward the Range, and runs to Silver Bay and Beaver Bay on a schedule.
Who we wash on the shore
- Haulers and carriers running Highway 61 and the Highway 2 connection to the Range.
- Contractors and aggregate producers along the shore and the county roads inland.
- Lake County and city fleets: plows, loaders and utility trucks.
- Resort, resort-supply and shuttle fleets that want to look right for visitors.
Lake wind and brine
Highway 61 is one of the most heavily brined roads in the region, and the lake wind carries spray onto everything parked near it. Shore fleets that run the highway daily go weekly with undercarriage through the winter.
Do you go past Silver Bay?
On request. Finland, Tofte and Grand Marais can be added to the shore route when there are enough units to justify the run; call and ask.
